POETRY CENTER

For National Day of Giving,
Tuesday, December 3,
we are asking for your support!

Dear Members and Subscribers,
Thank you for supporting the Sacramento Poetry Center over the years. We are truly grateful! We are reaching out to you now because we need your continued support to reach our 2025 funding goal of $30,000.

Donate here: thank you!
On National Giving Day, Tuesday, December 3, please consider becoming a member, renewing your current membership, or making a one-time donation, all tax deductible. You may donate any time, really, but December 3 is our activation target. As part of our commitment to collaborating with local booksellers, Amatoria Fine Art Books is offering
a 10% discount to all who donate as a thank-you for supporting the Sacramento Literary Arts. Donors will receive a certificate.

(Current members will soon receive a letter with the details of your membership status -- which you have been asking for.)
Since our founding in 1979, the Sacramento Poetry Center, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, fully
volunteer organization, has been a significant advocate of literary artists in Northern California, especially in the Sacramento area. In that time there have been many successes and challenges, including a recent full reorganization with an expanded focus on inclusion.
Here is how your membership and donations will help:
SUPPORT ONGOING EFFORTS
- SPC’s print offerings, including our nationally recognized annual anthology, Tule Review, and other publications.
- Our annual writers’ conferences and special events -- which have featured some of the most essential poets of our time, including Gary Snyder, Maya Angelou, Anne Waldman, Philip Levine, Robert Hass, Lucille Clifton, Galway Kinnell, Francisco Alarcón, Rita Dove, Lawrence, Ferlinghetti, José Montoya, Robert Creeley, Joanne Kyger and many others.
- Enhanced showcasing of the equally important scores of local and regional poets, both established and emerging. They are why we exist.
HELP US EXPAND
- Increased levels of honoraria for featured poets and writers who bring their knowledge, talent, and skill to the local audience, and for those who come and teach through workshops and lectures.
- Expanded publishing efforts, including monographs and periodicals, offering more opportunitoes for local poets to become published.
- Providing more learning options through workshops and interactive collaborations with other arts groups, and enhancing our focus on literacy efforts, especially for young people, through workshops, reading groups, targeted programming, and collaborations with booksellers.
- Expanding our National Poetry Month (April) presentations. This year we presented 36 events which involved many local creative and community groups and individuals, and centered on true inclusion. We plan on enhancing that to include a weekend conference and additional poetry and creative writing workshops.
If each of you takes out a standard membership of $30 per year, or renews your current membership, we will be well on the way to achieving this goal. Even making a one-time donation will be of great benefit.
You may do this through the mail, or through this website by visiting https://www.sacpoetrycenter.org/become-a-member where you will also find info on the benefits of membership, or by clicking on any donation button at the bottom of every page here.
Thank you very much.
—The Board of Directors, advisors, and volunteers of SPC, and the literary community that depends on us.
